BANGALORE: The issue of construction of two-phased underground parking complex in the high court is all set to enter the Supreme Court.

M G Kumar, advocate for petitioner in the PIL challenging the project has written to registrar (judicial) requesting him to release the copy of the April 19 order permitting the construction of the complex to enable him to move the SC.

On April 19, the high court had okayed the interlocutory application filed by the PWD seeking permission to construct the parking complex.

It may be recalled Bimal N Desai, who had filed the PIL against constructions within Cubbon Park, had moved an interlocutory application (IA) seeking a direction to the authorities to publish a notice in local dailies regarding the construction and invite objections from public.

The proposed construction will damage environment impact and the public have a right to express their views, he had contended.

A monitoring committee had accepted the proposal on August 7 last year. The drawings and estimates were approved by high court and the chief secretary was asked to proceed with the construction.
